November 2009
November 30th, 2009
Today it is 70 years since the Winter War started. I agree that it would have been nice if the first game were ready by now. Unfortunately we have not reached the final production stage quite yet. The PayPal will therefore not be attached until beginning of the next year (2010). It is of great importance that the rules and components are working properly, which means that I need more time. The two other volumes in the trilogy will be easier to finish, once the basic foundation is all set. The rules and OOBs becomes better for each day, so I am getting there...just keep up...

November 24th, 2009

October 26th, 2009
Sorry, no Winter War game this year! I have not been able to start testing the version 0.98 yet, but will do so next week. The test group will then take over the testing later in November. Many last-minute improvements and changes on all the game components have taken a lot of time. I will explain some of the unique(?) rules and features in the trilogy in the next Newsletter (#14), which will be an open version and posted here on my website soon. A new preliminary schedule for the games are on the right column.

I'm currently preparing all components for the betatesting of the Winter War main campaign (version 0.97).

Going back to my dayjob fulltime has seriously slowed down the progress of this game project, but I will make some adjustments later this spring to gain more time.

The unit counters have been going through a dramatic change in their appearance. All frames are gone and some of them have new and better nationality colours. All ground unit counters have now a new look. The dot has been replaced with one of the four CAL-group unit symbols in colour: Infantry, Artillery, AFV & HQ. The HQ has its Command Radius written inside the symbol. Also, all "Light Infantry" units are distinguished by a coloured circle around the movement factor. See below.

All units are currently been replaced in the Finnish Trilogy menu. They are now larger in size and without a shadow. Check them out! I will soon post some samples of the 0.96 version of the game components in the Picture Gallery (to the right).

September 6th, 2008
I'm currently working on the 0.96 version of the rules. Especially the stacking and combat rules will be somewhat improved and ready for testing October 1st.
The plan is to start testing the main campaign with the 0.97 version of the rules on December 1st.

Due to the fact that Betatesting takes much more time than anticipated (also because of my unexperience), and the need of another 80 pre-orders, the Winter War game will not be ready and for sale this year. I'm sorry about that. There's no point to announce a new preliminary release date at this moment. As soon as I have an idea, I'll let you know.

I will add one or two more scenarios for all games in the trilogy, since I've noticed that the demand for small and fast campaigns is high. After all, the main campaign is huge and takes a lot of time to play (and test).

I have decided to make these three games in the way they were intended from the start, without any political limitations. This means that the German insignias will be portrayed correctly as they were before I removed them. I apologize for the inconvenience this might cause to some people. I shouldn't have changed anything in the first place, since I'm only following the history here and we can't deny that certain evil symbols were used.

We are in the process of making the front cover for the Winter War game box and it will be finished by Christmas.

We have currently received 270 pre-orders to date (for the survey) after two months in public, great! If you find any of the games in the trilogy interesting, please fill in the form on the pre-order menu. They are of great importance for us in the decision of the number of prints each game will need.

Unfortunately, we are behind schedule for our promised new and improved website. Meanwhile, we have made some minor improvements here.

The second newsletter will be sent this weekend, to all who have ordered it in the "pre-order" menu.

Mikugames has agreed to remove the German Nazi-swastika from all game components. The reason they were there to start with, was that we wanted the games to be historically correct, nothing else. Note! The Finnish Airforce used a blue swastika on all of its military air units 1918-1945 and had nothing to do with the German counterpart or Nazism! Therefore they are NOT removed!

September 21st, 2007
We are now also showing two samples of the Soviet countersheets (front & back) from the Winter War campaign. Work is still in progress, though. Check them out!

The first newsletter will be sent this weekend, to all who have ordered it in the "pre-order" menu.

The number of "pre-orders" in our survey is now almost 200, mostly due to ConsimWorld at:

(PS. According to the survey, many are interested in the whole trilogy!)

Unfortunately, we have some problems with the website. Some visitors cannot see the whole page. We will open a new, better website within 3-4 weeks.
